Finding Pax: Women in the wooden boat world

About Kaci: WBF Program Description
Circumnavigator, author, NWMC & WBF managing director & Festival director, Kaci resisted owning a boat for a decade, even with the extreme temptations crossing her path every day at the Wooden Boat Foundation. In August 2007, she succumbed to an almost 70 year old Danish double-ender named Pax. In 11 months of restoration, peace (pax in latin) is redefined.

9/5/08 3:00 - 4:00 PM

Kaci & Pax in Living on the Peninsula feature article

In the summer issue of Living on the Peninsula, author Blythe Lawrence wrote "A boat of her own", a four-page article with photos about Wooden Boat Festival Director Kaci Cronkhite and her 1936 spidsgatter, Pax.  Kaci remains indebted to the esteemed editors who chose to take her quote about the boat... and hang it out on it's own with a mixed message.  "Best buns in the boat yard" was a quote about the boat, you guys! lol

Read the article here.  Starts on page 23.

Keynote Speaker at Jefferson Community School

Tonight, Kaci Cronkhite presented Woman of the Wind, with a focus on Eleanor Roosevelt's famous quote "You must do the thing you think you cannot do" for the graduates and matriculates of Jefferson Community School. In addition to slides from the sail around the world, Kaci encouraged the graduates to "dare to do" in more ways than just travel. Dare to travel with your family. Dare to stay calm in dangerous situations. Dare to help people when you don't know their language. Dare to go. Dare to do. Dare to live this way right here in PT, anywhere in the world, or both. It was obvious from the many impressive speeches given by teachers and student, that JCS mission is being accomplished and that these kids, their teachers and their parents "dare to do". "It was an honor to be part of their celebration and to see William Bennett and Phoebe Reid, among other students whose parents I know, reach such impressive milestones and have such tremendous opportunity ahead."
