Welcome! Whether you're a sailor, a cowgirl, a wooden boat lover, a writer or a community event manager, I hope you'll find inspiration and information.
The Woman of the Wind Blog covers people, travel, events, nature and history from decades of exploration and life. It is also where my current writing works in progress are tested, developed and where you can comment and ask questions. Topic categories range all along the Beaufort Scale and are topics that can also be the focus of public presentations.
A life-long woman of the wind, I work wherever the wind blows. In Port Townsend, Washington since 2001, I directed the world renowned Wooden Boat Festival for a decade and remain involved. There, I work onboard my 1936 Danish spidsgatter, Pax. On the other side of the Rockies at the bottom of an ancient ocean in Oklahoma, I work from my canyon home called Windspiration Point in Roman Nose State Park. I write, do presentations, create and manage community cultural events from both places and with friends and colleagues all over the world.
From an Oklahoma cattle ranch that was home to four generations to years exploring Alaska's remote wilderness then sailing around the world, I've lived in the winds and learned.
I've learned to thrive in a constant creative flow, to seek balance, face my fears and to respond to opportunities with unbound optimism. As Eleanor Roosevelt said... 'You've got to dare to do the thing you think you cannot do!' Kaci Cronkhite, during Woman of the Wind presentations
